A good laugh… June 23, 12 #14

A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

This week I had an opportunity to laugh and cause laughter. You see, I work in an office and have to answer a phone often, and the office is in a church. So my best friends husband phones to ask if he and his family could be put on the van that picks up people for church. “Sure” I say, but then as the conversation goes on he tells me that there are 22 people in his family. They all live in a house on Lakeshore Road.  I dutifully ask him his address and name and he gives me a number which is too long for the house numbers there and nothing seems to add up.

He seems frustrated that we cannot accommodate him so he offers to drive the van for us, informing me that he got his licence that morning and that he needs a job anyway. I politely try to tell him that the only treasure he will get from this is heavenly treasure and that it is a volunteer job plus it is not for anyone to do, but he tells me he needs money to pay his bills and pay for the food for the  22 people in his home!

Frantically trying to protect the church and not offend this gentleman I try to think of what I can do, but the more I listen the more ludicrous this is and slowly it dawns on me that this Enoch Bindi is no a real person.

What a hoot! For the rest of the day I was giggling to myself and a little annoyed that I got caught, but then I remember the verse I put up at the top… Proverbs 17:22

Then today I got another good laugh… Richard has been going to weight watchers and he has the online site all set up and he puts in his new weight and it calculates his weight loss. But by accident today he puts in his weight loss and the website now  thinks he only weighs 1 pound. It tells him that he is weighing too little for his health and he must eat more points and stop losing weight! Oh man… that really tickled me and made me laugh. Surely there must be some recognition that he got things a little muddled.
