Home Safety
Published
Most people would see their home as a safe place for themselves and their family. But is it really safe? Learn to recognize toxins in your home. Indoor pollution is a serious issue. The level of indoor pollutant may be hundreds of times greater than outside air. There are multiple sources of indoor pollutants including carpets, paint, household cleaners, furniture, dry cleaning, newspaper and magazines. Indoor air is a health risk because of the combined effects of multiple toxic sources in a confined space.
Take steps to reduce or eliminate toxic items from your home and keep it well ventilated. Don’t purchase products with harmful chemicals to clean your home. There are a couple of natural products that can be used as household cleaners such as lemon juice and vinegar. Lemon juice is a deodorizer and can be used to clean glass and remove stains from aluminum, clothes and porcelain. Vinegar can dissolve mineral deposits and grease, remove soap, mildew or wax buildup. Use natural furniture and carpets and please do not smoke or let anyone else smoke in your home. Having harmful chemicals around the home pose additional risks for kids in that if ingested they are poisonous. Store potentially poisonous household products and medications locked out of your child’s sight and reach. Protect your children from other poisons that may be present in your home such as lead or carbon monoxide.
Take the time to learn more about making your home the safe place that it should be. Remember that cleansing the body of toxins (detoxification) is vital. Building a diet around whole foods, drinking eight glasses of pure water daily, and using AIM supplements will nourish cells to be their best.
