Protect Your Eyes
Published
The eyes are two of the most complex organs of the body, that enable us to see the world around us. It is important to protect the eyes from injury, be aware of your environment and use proper safety eyewear. In the workplace eye injuries can occur from falling or flying objects, or sparks striking the eye. Also, when you are outdoors, prolonged exposure to sunlight can be damaging. The best ways to prevent injury to the eye is to always wear the appropriate eye protection.
In addition to the proper safety eyewear, early detection and treatment of eye conditions and diseases are essential to maintaining good vision at every stage of life. Cataract for example is a clouding of the eye’s lens that can lead to vision problems. It is the number one cause of blindness in the world. If the lens of the eye thickens and become clouded, it becomes unable to focus or admit light properly. The majority of cataract conditions can be successfully treated with surgery. Eye disturbances can be a symptom of disease elsewhere in the body. For example, watery eyes can be a symptom of the common cold, yellowing of the eyes from jaundice can be a sign of hepatitis, gallbladder disease, or gallstone blockage, and high blood pressure and diabetes may cause periodic blurring of vision. Like all other parts of the body the eyes need to be nourished properly. A well balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables can help keep the eyes healthy.
Protect your eyes using proper safety eyewear. Get enough sleep each night and exercise regularly. Building a diet around whole foods, drinking eight glasses of pure water daily, and using AIM supplements will nourish cells to be their best.
