Summertime is a great time to stay active while having fun. The kids are out of school with large chunks of free time. Make the most of it by always having activities laid out for the family. Family outings to the park is great for activities because you can play everything from catch, tag, basketball, volleyball, swing, slide, bike riding or simply taking a walk along the trails. A growing number of physicians and pediatricians are looking to parks as natural partners in the fight against chronic disease and obesity.
Obesity is an excessively high proportion of body fat. Health professionals use a measurement called body mass index (BMI) to classify adult’s weight as healthy, overweight, obese, and extremely obese. People who are overweight or obese are at a higher risk for disease. The most common cause of obesity are poor diet or eating habits and a lack of exercise. Other factors include glandular malfunctions and diabetes. Experts believe that the key to losing weight is simple: eat less and move more. The body has to burn more calories than it takes in. So, head on out to the parks, have fun and stay active. Parks and public lands have long been associated with higher physical activity levels, but are now also associated with greater feelings of revitalization, energy, and perceptions of improved health.
Take the steps necessary to lose excess weight, get enough sleep each night and exercise regularly. Building a diet around whole foods, drinking eight glasses of pure water daily, and using AIM supplements will nourish cells to be their best.
