Playing sports is a great way to stay active , healthy and happy, but It is important to follow safety guidelines and wear safety gear to avoid sport-related injuries. A bump, blow or a jolt to the head can cause a concussion, a type of traumatic brain injury. This can occur even without the loss of consciousness. There are also the risk of overuse injuries. If a muscle is stressed beyond its capability, it becomes strained. If one of the ligaments that connects the bone to the muscle tears, this causes a sprain. Bones can also be broken or fractured and the seriousness varies depending on which bone is broken. It is also important to prevent dehydration and other heat illness such as heat stroke. Some sport-related injuries are disabling and requires rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation is a medical specialty which helps restore people, affected by a potentially disabling disease or traumatic injury, back to live healthier functional, productive lives and also helps minimize physical or cognitive disabilities. The rehab team helps individuals overcome obstacles and accomplish normal tasks of daily living. Disability does not discriminate. Every person is at risk of disability. Therefore, everyone is a potential candidate for rehabilitation. Independence gained or retained through rehabilitation is priceless. Providing the body with proper nutrition especially during recovery is important to help the injuries heal.
Allow a proper amount of time for rest and recovery with both games and practice. Remember to warm up, follow safety guidelines and wear safety gear. Stay active, healthy and happy. Building a diet around whole foods, drinking eight glasses of pure water daily, and using AIM supplements will nourish cells to be their best.
