Dental Hygiene

Good teeth and gums are a significant part of good health. Without them we cannot eat many foods that provide important nutrients. Poor nutrition can cause dental disease just as it causes other diseases of the body. It is important to give your body the nutrients it needs and practice good dental hygiene to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Tooth decay depends on three factors: the presence of bacteria, the availability of sugars for the bacteria to feed on, and the quality of the tooth enamel. Bacteria that are not removed from the teeth by brushing or flossing become a sticky film called plaque. The bacteria in the plaque feeds on the sugar that is eaten and produce an acid that damages tooth enamel causing tooth decay. When this damage or decay spreads down the root canal to the nerve, it causes a toothache. Buildup of plaque can also cause inflammation of the gums. This bacteria can also enter the blood stream and cause other problems in the body. Practice good dental hygiene. Proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively. Studies have shown that brushing for two minutes is perhaps the single most important step an individual can take to reduce plaque build-up and the risk of plaque-associated diseases, such as cavities and gingivitis. Brush your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day. Flossing is also an essential part of the tooth-cleaning process because it removes plaque from between teeth and at the gum line.
Dental problems can be prevented with proper nutrition, good dental hygiene and regular dental checkups. Building a diet around whole foods, drinking eight glasses of pure water daily, and using AIM supplements will nourish cells to be their best.
