Green barley juice is loaded with vitamins, proteins, minerals and two other important substances: chlorophyll and enzymes. Chlorophyll is similar to the hemoglobin in the red blood cells that carry oxygen. The basic difference is that chlorophyll contains magnesium at its core, while hemoglobin contains iron.
Chlorophyll is also a potent anti-inflammatory agent. Dr. Hagawara gave barley juice to an acquaintance with abdominal gastritis so sever that she need analgesia injections for pain relief. The pain went away on the first dose, and Dr. Hagawara wrote. “To those who devote themselves to the study of medicine for disease, nothing is more impressive that seeing the pain of the patient relieved before their eyes.”
Chlorophyll is also widely used as a deodorizer and breath freshener, in part because it is a germicide.
