If you are like me and have children, I assume you do because you are reading this article. You have to wait for your children a lot at their sports practices, dance lessons, music lessons, etc. I have come up with a list of at least ten things to help you pass the time while I wait for them.

    1. Watch your children, while they are doing their lesson or practicing their sport. But that is not always possible because some teachers won’t allow you to do this.
    2. Read a book. You can read a novel or a book to help you in your life growth or on whatever topic you want.
    3. Go for a walk. It will help you get your movement in which each of us has a difficult time to fit into our schedules especially when we have small children.

  1. You can make new friends with the other parents in the class or practice. Talking with other parents can help the time pass quickly especially when the conversation is an enjoyable topic.
  2. Listen to music that relaxes you. We want to calm Moms and this is a way we can just let go and relax for the few minutes. This can be hard when you have younger children you have to take care of but maybe you can choose some music that you all con listed to.
  3. Write thank you notes or prepare cards that need to be done and sent to your friends. Even though we are in a time of email and text and computer stuff people still like to receive something special in the mail.
  4. Take a short nap in the car if you are in a safe neighborhood. The rest will prepare you for the rest of the evening.
  5. Talk to someone on the phone so you can stay in touch while you are tied up with practice or lessons.
  6. Text back in forth with a family member or friend. Make a time for light and fun converse.
  7. Go to a nearby coffee shop and have a decaf (Usually it is in the evening) You want to sleep tonight. Or better yet have decaffeinated green tea or some other herbal tea.
  8. Go to a nearby library. If you are by yourself with no other kids in tow this is a good option. And even if you do have children in tow a lot of libraries have programs for small children in the evenings.
  9. Play a game on you iPad or iPhone it will pass the time while you wait.
  10. Plan your next day. This is good for us busy Mom’s and Dad’s
  11. Plan your healthy menu for the next week. This can help keep you from eating less than healthful choices that occur when we don’t have a plan.
